Michael Ashley is an architect registered in New York where he spends most of his time as a Principal and design architect with Studio Daniel Libeskind. Here Michael is granted the opportunity of working closely with Daniel and other talented professionals on the design of international projects of all scales and typologies. Michael believes architecture is the making of possibilities.Born in 1974 in California, Michael enjoyed music and the arts and was embedded with a passion for nature and the outdoors. He was trained on the classical piano for 14 years and was an aggressive drummer in several bands during his youth. In 1997 Michael received a Bachelor in Architecture from Andrews University in Michigan, and a Masters in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia Univeristy in New York in 2006. He interned Berlin and has worked in California and New York.While with Studio Libeskind, Michael also pursues a theoretical practice, MASH-ARKT engaging in the spirit of perception through architectural competition, object making, travelling and writing. Michael has also been a guest critic at Columbia University, The Pratt Institute, Parsons New School of Design, NYIT, United Nations International School, among others and speaks publicly about Architecture.
