About Michael Astilla
In 2001 I was a founder and President of Bio-Tech Prosthetics and Orthotics in Durham, NC. During that tenure, I developed and patented the Limbguard post-amputation protector technology with my partner Laura Riedel. The Limbguard was central to more than quadrupling our prosthetics care across multiple clinics. By 2021, Limbguard distribution had grown nationwide, and I reached an agreement with Hanger Clinic to acquire my clinical practice - Bio-Tech P&O. With the sale of Bio-Tech, I look forward to focusing more time and energy toward helping other practices enhance their amputee care programs using the Limbguard family of products.
