Michael Atherley recently retired as Chief of Security and In-Patient Management at Kirby Forensic Psychiatric Center in New York City. He is a New York State Certified Trainer in Preventing & Managing Crisis Situations. He has taught this course for 30+ years to thousands of health care and correctional workers across New York. He has 35 years' experience working with the forensic population in children as well as adult settings. Mr. Atherley has consulted with the United States Secret Service, New York City Department of Corrections and New York City Department of Health. He has also advised forensic facilities in Japan, Puerto Rico and England. He has also taught classes to over 500 employees within the Mount Sinai Health system. Currently he provides in-service training to Officers at NYC Department of Corrections.
