About Michael Ausbon

~~ Curious Collector and Passionate Protector of North Carolina's Material-Culture Heritage ~~I currently serve as North Carolina's Curator of Decorative Arts, serving at the state's Museum of History, NC Executive Mansion, and the NC Governor's Western Residence. In this role, I interpret our state's cultural heritage by collecting significant historical and cultural artifacts, documenting people's stories, organizing and interpreting this material to the public in a mission to educate, preserve and promote North Carolina's cultural heritage.Generations of North Carolinians continue to channel their creative spirits to shape the materials around them into beautiful and functional artistic expressions, which in turn have shaped the communities, economies, and history of our state. It is my goal to share these stories and ensure everyone's voice is heard.
