Michael Azmi-Loe is a Director of NAL Associates Sdn Bhd. He has had a 40 + year career in banking, including 25 years with Citibank in Latin America, the UK and Asia, predominantly in Risk Management and Process Engineering. His Asian experience includes leading the Risk Audit function for North Asia, and Chief Risk Officer positions in Malaysia, Thailand and the sub-continent cluster (India, Sri Lanka, Nepal & Bangladesh). His last assignment with Citi, based in Singapore and then London, was heading a major Risk Process and Automation project which was successfully implemented in over 70 countries worldwide. Since leaving Citi, he spent 10 years in the Middle East, initially in Saudi Arabia as Head of Risk Architecture with Samba, then at the Commercial Bank of Qatar where he was Chief Risk Officer and then CEO. In 2009 he initiated his consultancy work in the UAE. In 2011, he joined ADIB (Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank) as COO Risk, a position he held until early 2014. Michael was born in Brasil, holds dual UK - Brasil citizenship, is married to a Malaysian and is resident in Kuala Lumpur.

His career started in the Bank of Tokyo in the UK in 1969 followed by several years in the oil Industry before returning to his native Brasil in 1978 to resume his banking career, first in the Bank of London & S. America (BOLSA) subsequently absorbed by Lloyd's Bank International, as a Relationship Manager for 4 years. He joined Citibank in 1981 in the Distressed Assets unit, then moved to Asia for the next 21 years initially in Risk Asset Review (Philippines, Taiwan, Japan, China, Hong Kong , Korea), subsequently Country Risk Manager positions in Malaysia, India (including Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal) Thailand, Head of the CePAC project based in Singapore for 4 years, and finally 1 year in London heading global implementation of CePAC/CRI.
