Manager, Global Project Value OfficeIntergen Jan 2012 - Mar 2019Edinburgh, Scotland, GbI moved to the US to design, develop and deploy a Project Management Office for the Global IT Organization following successes in Europe. As well as introducing Scrum and Agile, I created a project prioritization process, developed and delivered training to IT staff globally; coached new Scrum Masters, Product Owners and trained all team members. I presented a summary of this process at Kaplan and Norton's Balanced Scorecard conference in San Diego. We have delivered over 100 projects for IT, HR, Operations and Engineering, Risk, Legal and Compliance. Our focus has also broadened from the 'pure' IT element of projects to include the successful embedding of the new processes within the business, delivering successful change in Banking, Energy, Plant Operations, Trading and Commercial areas.In Feb 2015 I was appointed temporary UK / Europe IT Manager. I was responsible for budgeting, contract renegotiations, purchasing, line management, senior management reporting and project scheduling and delivery. Once a replacement was found, I handed everything over to him successfully, and moved back to my Boston roleI also worked with the Mexico Region to allow them to participate successfully in the newly deregulated Power and Gas markets there. This included company market positioning, business restructure, contract preparation, Operations and Engineering changes, as well as internal process and procedures, Legal and Compliance issues, understanding the regulatory environment and implementation of systems to support the new trading regime. Finally, I was responsible for two major organizational changes; InterGen sold their Latin American business, and spun off a whole IT function in Mexico City. InterGen then pulled out of North America, and I was responsible for overseeing the rehoming of all of their Corporate function to the UK in preparation for closing the US Business, in March 2019. -
It Project ManagerIntergen Nov 2005 - Dec 2011Edinburgh, Scotland, GbInterGen had 5 UKNL Gas Fired Power Stations. I manage the software and hardware projects to deliver change to the IT side of the business.Work is primarily in Edinburgh, where we have a 24x7 trading desk to buy / sell the gas / power required to meet our obligations and balance the portfolio of plants.I was responsible for management of all Change in our Commercial Operations and Trading teams - including approximately 35 decision support and market participation systems. We released slightly more than one production change per week for five years without a single unscheduled outage. I was also responsible for all IT systems related to new Power Stations in that time, as well as a complete overhaul of the comms rooms, and facilities in Edinburgh, and two of the Stations.I was also responsible for developing and testing our off site Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity systems, policies and procedures; which were tested and refined regularly. Before I left, we could manage the failover of all our trading and commercial operations systems via a single interface. -
