I hereby present myself with 23 years of experience in the development field and an exclusive 11 years’ experience with Karnataka Health Promotion Trust on managing various Health Related Programs as Deputy Director. Following the completion of my PhD, I currently work closely with centres providing care and support to children, youth and women on the issues related to sustainable livelihoods. Throughout my career my focus and priority had been to work closely with the children, adolescents and youths from poor and marginal society, especially challenged by HIV infections or affected by HIV, rural youth as well as children of single mothers from poor households. The issues of youths in relation to sustainable livelihoods are manifold: Some of the key issues identified while working with them has been - Education and the school-to-work transition, Difficulties securing work prevent progress in young people’s social and economic aspects, Youth livelihoods: searching for security, Living with livelihood insecurity: implications for support, happiness and future aspirations, discouragement and alienation from society and Exclusion of and discrimination against particular groups of young people, for example, according to gender, class, disability, ethnicity, education, family background and origin. While working with the youths, I look forward to address these concerns by working along with the youths and finding their solutions to their concerns. My working strategy has been to jointly identity the approach to the issues, faced by the community. I believe that this is only possible when are involved down to earth with the community and learn from their experiences. With my sphere of work there has been a constant effort to learn from the community and share back the learning through implementation in the program.
