I worked as a Temporary Quality Assurance Associate at Aladdin Temp-Rite in Hendersonville, TN. I acquired this position through the Wood Personnel temporary employment office in Gallatin, TN. My main responsibility in this role was to regularly check thermoformed plastic and injection molded plastic products for various imperfections. There were 19 different machines to check which may or may not all be running at the same time. Once I discovered an issue with the finished product, I would notify the correct personnel to fix the issue and put a "rejection" sticker on boxes with bad product so they wouldn't get shipped out to customers. If I were unable to contact the correct personnel to resolve an issue, it would require that I make a decision on whether or not to shut that specific machine down. I was also responsible for updating a spreadsheet at regular intervals that would log various quality concerns.

I worked as a full-time Receiving Associate at a large REI Co-op distribution center in Lebanon, TN. As a Receiving Associate, my daily responsibilities involved receiving inbound freight, unloading trucks, moving small and large boxes to and from pallets, sorting and counting merchandise, and assisting with a multitude of other job duties in Receiving and other departments. The majority of tasks required the use of a Zebra WT6000 which is a handheld computer scanner that records inventory movements for REI's warehouse management system. I was also sometimes required to operate an electric sit-down forklift (the Crown FC 5700) or an electric pallet jack (the Crown PE4500).The two other departments that I would sometimes help out in were known as “Fulfillment” and “Marking.” Some of my job responsibilities when in Fulfillment included boxing or bagging merchandise to be shipped out to customers and REI stores. It also involved unboxing items so they could be stored in the automated sorting robot. When I was in the Marking department, I would use AS/400 software to update the pricing of various products or use a Cubiscan 325 to log new product dimensions. It would be imperative that all of the departments are communicating with one another at this distribution center as a lot of the processes were automated. My co-workers and I would often use 2 way radios and Microsoft Teams to communicate.This REI Co-op Distribution Center opened in 2023 so most of my co-workers were also the “new” employees. Also, the warehouse building itself is a brand new multi-million dollar construction that has state of the art technology installed to assist with distribution operations. It was quite the learning experience seeing a new distribution center come into its own.

I worked as a full-time forklift operator at a Ricoh warehouse in Nashville, TN. My daily responsibilities included delivering parts to various locations throughout the warehouse using a cherry-picker forklift. I also would sometimes operate an electric sit-down forklift and stand-up reach truck. There would also be times when I would help with manually unloading trucks, but that was quite rare. Most of my time here was spent driving a cherry picker forklift. I also used a Zebra MC930B-GSHDG4NA and a Symbol MC9190 to log inventory movements throughout the warehouse.

I worked at Thermo Fisher Scientific as a material handler, forklift driver, and assembler to assist with the building of high performance laboratory refrigerators and freezers. My main job was helping to deliver various parts to different locations throughout the warehouse either by hand or with a forklift. When there were no parts to be delivered, I would jump in with a specific department to help out. This would involve working with a variety of hand tools to physically build up certain components or preparing and packaging finished units for shipment.

In May of 2021, I attempted to thru-hike the entire 2,650 mile Pacific Crest Trail from the U.S.-Mexico border all the way to the border with Canada. I ended up only hiking about 600 miles of trail, but it was an incredible journey that I learned a lot from. I shot video and recorded vlogs along the way and released about 2 videos a week to my YouTube channel while I was on the trail. In January of 2022, I released an hour long documentary with that footage that is proving to be one of my most successful YouTube videos I've ever released. I learned a lot from this last adventure and completing the entire trail is definitely a goal I hope to revisit at some point in the future.

I started working at this dog and cat food production facility as a temporary worker, but was hired on as a Quality Assurance Analyst working in the Quality Assurance Lab. My responsibilities included working with a wide variety of lab equipment to make sure the finished product and raw ingredients met the company standards. One specific piece of lab equipment I frequently used were micropipettes which we used for detecting harmful levels of mycotoxins which could be present in some of the raw ingredients. At times the job would be physically demanding as well as I would have to wear fall protection and walk on top of rail cars in order to sample raw ingredients so they could be brought to the lab for testing. I would follow a very detailed and meticulous process for testing both finished product and raw ingredients to meet FDA standards.

Europe And Southeast Asia

I traveled throughout Europe and Southeast Asia for about 4 and a half months documenting my travels for my YouTube channel Sensatious Hiatus. I went to Ireland, Italy, Greece, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Australia.

As the Ridgerunner Coordinator, I would be responsible for the supervision of two full time Ridgerunners as well as two weekend Ridgerunners. Ridgerunners under my supervision would camp and hike along the A.T. in Connecticut and Massachusetts doing light trail maintenance, gathering hiker statistics, and engaging with the public about the 7 Leave No Trace principles. I would plan their 5-day scheduled route (they would cover about 70 miles of trail), plan their pickup/drop-off locations, coordinate with the CT/MA A.T Committee's to assist with anything involving the ridgerunners, and also enter and maintain Ridgerunner-collected statistics. The Ridgerunner program is seasonal work and this was my second season with the Appalachian Mountain Club. I was again certified in Wilderness First Aid and also became a "Leave No Trace Master Educator." I really enjoyed this position working with both the Connecticut and Massachusetts Appalachian Trail Committees as well as assisting to further the Appalachian Mountain Club's mission to promote the protection, enjoyment, and understanding of this regions wilderness areas. I was also responsible for the creation of the "Ridgerunner 2018 Season Report" and was also featured in an article on the AMC's website.

I would hike and camp along the Appalachian Trail in Connecticut and Massachusetts reporting trail conditions, doing light trail maintenance, and engaging the public to discuss the seven leave no trace principles.

In 2016, I lived and worked in Australia for a year on a "work and holiday visa." I worked for an Australian lawyer in Sydney for 6 months as that was the maximum amount of time that I could work for one employer while on that particular visa. This law firm had a small production company in the basement of the firm where I worked as the assistant video editor. I also helped out with the video shoots in the custom studio that was built in the basement. These were usually 2-camera shoots and consisted of operating a video switcher during the shoot so it could be broadcast to in-house lawyers upstairs. These were long form conversations with a variety of topics that were relevant to those involved with Australian law.

During these months, I edited together a 26 episode YouTube series which highlighted my nearly 6 month hike along the entire Appalachian Trail. In addition to completing this long video edit, I laid out a plan on how to continue producing videos for my YouTube channel "Sensatious Hiatus."

In June of 2013, Zuus Media acquired my previous employer CJM Productions and offered to have me stay on as a video editor and camera operator. I worked here for over a year and was given several opportunities behind the camera and in the edit booth to showcase my video production skills. I worked with the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite and mostly used the Canon C100 to shoot. This was a great job and I learned a lot working here.

This was my first full time gig in the video production realm. My main job here was as the assistant editor for the weekly country music entertainment news show entitled "Inside Music Row." I would assist with shoots both on location and in the studio, log and capture raw footage, gather necessary assets for each show, upload final shows, burn and mail-out weekly DVD's and BetaSP tapes, occasionally edit show promos, operate a teleprompter during host shoots, and assist with any other necessary video production tasks that were required to get the show out to networks every week. I would also assist with the production and editing of other less-frequently airing shows such as "Bluegrass Mountains," "Music Row Profiles," and "Southern Psalms." This was a very small team that I worked with so I was often given several opportunities to learn and develop new video production skills. I really enjoyed my time at CJM Productions and worked with some great co-workers while doing so.
