The Sheriff’s Department is the chief law enforcement agency in the County of San Diego, covering approximately 4,200 square miles. The Department’s 4,000+ employees provide general law enforcement, jail and court services, as well as regional investigative support, and technical emergency response. Michael’s duties include: monitoring compliance with current laws and regulations, as well as Department and County policies and procedures; formulating, reviewing, and recommending policy and operational improvements; representing the Sheriff in court appearances, in administrative hearings, and before legislative bodies; assessing liability/risk issues; and rendering legal advice and opinions to the Sheriff and members of the Department on a variety of matters related to law enforcement, detentions and employment laws and issues.Michael is admitted to practice in California, as well as the United States District Court, Southern District of California; the United States District Court, District of Arizona; the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit; the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit; the United States Court of Claims and the United States Supreme Court.

Cabrillo Credit Union was established in 1955 to serve Border Patrol agents in San Diego. Today Cabrillo Credit Union serves as the primary financial institution for those employed by the U.S. Border Patrol and other federal agencies in the San Diego area. Cabrillo Credit Union also serves Sharp HealthCare, Carlsbad City employees, and is open to anyone who lives or works in San Diego County.The Supervisory Committee is responsible for ensuring that the Board of Directors and management of the Credit Union meet required financial reporting objectives and establish practices and procedures sufficient to safeguard members' assets. To carry out its responsibilities, the Supervisory Committee determines whether internal controls are established and effectively maintained to achieve the Credit Union's financial reporting objectives, and ensures the Credit Union's accounting records and financial reports are promptly prepared and accurately reflect operations and results; and that the relevant plans, policies, and control procedures established by the Board of Directors are properly administered. The Supervisor Committee is responsible for ensuring that the Credit Union adheres to NCUA regulatory requirements and arranges for the annual audit conducted by an outside auditing firm.
