Transportation Project Manager
Current
Project Manager Civil/Transportation
A civil/transportation project manager focused on inspiring roadway infrastructure design to provide solutions from concept to completion for my clients. I lead project design from preliminary engineering, through permitting, ROW acquisitions, onto final engineering on transportation facilities, public infrastructure, drainage, and utilities for the development of construction plans. I perform intersection control evaluations (ICE) and corridor studies that provide improvements for a safe and efficient route. Roadway, site layout, grading, drainage, and erosion control are designed in conformance with local, state and federal regulations. Plans, specifications, cost estimates, and ICE, are a routine deliverable.
Full-Time Parenting
Stay at home dad for my growing family that went from one child to three in a matter of just over a year. In the 2008 downturn, my family had relocated from Bend, Oregon to Vancouver, WA while adding members to the family and made a decision to focus on my family. When my youngest reached kindergarten and with better work opportunities ahead my family was ready for my transition back to work.
Project Engineer
I managed project designs for commercial and residential developments. Created geometric layouts for roadways including a roundabout using Civil3D software. Designed underground utilities according to engineering principles and standards. Created project bid items and cost estimates. One notable project that I worked on was the Cascade Locks Casino E.I.S. for the Confederated Tribes of Warm Spring along with other commercial development projects in the Warm Springs Reservation business district.
Design Engineer
As design engineer I managed the County Local Improvement District (LID) process. I developed the engineer’s report and cost estimate for the County Commissioners and conducted the neighborhood meetings for each LID project. Meeting presentations described the project design, County standards, the impact to neighborhood, and the overall budget to complete the project. I presented at Board meetings before the Board of County Commissioners to gain their endorsement for the LID project. In addition, I led the team in project coordination, design, which included the contract provisions, and project construction. AutoCAD Civil3D was my design tool. I designed the roadway according to County standards and created the construction plan set. Along with the plans, I created special provisions and the engineers cost estimate. I managed the construction phase of the project. I worked with the contractor to keep the project on time and within budget. Daily construction progress was documented and contract items were recorded and paid.
Transportation Engineer 2
I led project development and delivery through the WSDOT design process which encompassed project scoping, the design summary, and the construction estimate. I coordinated design projects with local and federal agencies including the U.S. Forest Service and the Columbia River Gorge Commission. I created contract special provisions and wrote project specific special provisions to be included. In the construction phase I was responsible for directing the activities of staff for field inspection, adherence to project plans and specifications, and general contract administration. I tracked project budgets to ensure costs stay within funding. The contract administration duties that I performed were daily inspection reports, monthly progress estimates and I reviewed and negotiated several change orders. I was certified in concrete testing, aggregate sieve analysis, pavement testing, and a traffic control supervisor.
Civil Engineer
Summer intern in 1999 and worked as a survey technician. Hired upon graduation as a civil engineer. As a civil engineer I designed roadways and underground utilities for residential development. Storm drainage designed to local and state standards to collect and convey runoff. Project plan sets were created and bid items compiled for the construction cost estimate.Construction observation was a typical duty performed. I was certified in concrete and asphalt pavement testing for State projects. Provided daily inspection reports on construction projects. Contractor progress was monitored and recorded as well as bid items tracked and calculated for payment. Contract plans and specifications were adhered to for construction. All testing of materials was performed according to contract provisions and recorded for compliance.
