After nine years in an operational role, I chose to branch out and educate myself on the procedures of back of house processes. As a Food and Beverage Administrator, I have been solely in charge of implementing new stock control software in some of Firmdale’s London hotels. This role has taught me much about the practices of stock controllers and their relationship with both F&B Managers and suppliers whilst simultaneously providing extensive on-the-job IT training. My main duty is to work with the Oracle team to create an interface and set the system up in each hotel; this includes initial demonstrations with General Managers and HODs and ongoing workshops for the operation. Since starting in this role, I have managed to take the software to three 5 star hotels and continue to provide trainings to all new and existing staff members. In between expanding to other hotels and providing training, my time is spent improving and maintaining the matrix.
