I was accountable for the full range of financial functions in this business, which provides advertising and digital marketing services on behalf of some of the most recognizable brands in the world. As CFO, I delivered business strategy recommendations with far-reaching financial impact. I developed yearly financial expectations, created and monitored comprehensive Business Plans (annual budgets), and oversaw classic corporate controllership activities. Importantly, I maintained the integrity of the business’ financial processes, internal controls, and all obligations for corporate/global reporting. In earlier roles as a controller, I executed hands-on general ledger work. To bolster the profitability of the business, I consolidated workloads and reduced staff, lowered freelance labor costs, brought to fruition creative outsourcing by tapping affiliates, centralized purchasing, consolidated contracts, and renegotiated all vendor costs not “pinned down.” I also developed the credit approval process with appropriate thresholds and achieved a track record of no bad-debt write-offs. Collaboration with HR was another aspect of my work. I benchmarked salaries and acted as the primary architect in creating the salary structure with grade levels. Additionally, I conducted a yearly analysis of employee benefits costs and advised senior management on options, many of which to reduce costs.
