Dorking

I was hired as an AM to Petersfield PizzaExpress before working in Alresford, Haslemere, Godalming, Cranleigh and Horsham. I moved around a lot due to relocation and due to being one of the only AMs that had a car. I eventually moved to Dorking, where I was for almost two years' before being promoted.

Waterlooville, Hants

I was at ASDA for over four years and have progressed from being a part-time colleague to being a full-time Section Leader of the Grocery Department. I also have a year’s experience of running the Beers, Wines and Spirits department by myself. It was during this time that I realised I would like to progress from being a full-time colleague to being a Section Leader. I had to complete a two week training course at the ASDA Store of Learning in Fareham and then take part in the “Step Up” programmes in order to do this. During the completion of these courses, I learned how to work in conjunction with a manager. I learned the basics of how to run a department and how to keep it working smoothly. I also learned how to deal with all the legal matters, such as Health and Safety and Product Withdrawals. I was responsible for liaising with my colleagues and making rotas for when they can work. My experience as a colleague helped me to be able to spot any problems within the store and help fix them straight away. I was also responsible for motivating my department’s colleagues and helping them with any issues they may have had. Overall, I was responsible for 20 colleagues. I also helped complete legal training for my colleagues in my role as department Training Buddy. I also provided fantastic customer service as part of my job as I had to be seen as a role model to my department.
