Mike has created a strong track record of success meeting complex project requirements, working with internal and external teams to ensure customers are satisfied, and finishing projects on-schedule and under budget. In his time at CDOT, Mike earned an award for Excellence in Project Management from the Colorado Contractor’s Association, completed the Department’s Leadership Journey program, volunteered for several additional roles and committees, and has been recognized by senior management on multiple occasions after demonstrating relationship-building, expert knowledge, planning, and execution, and frequently checking in with key stakeholders and internal customers reviewing alignment of objectives and outcomes. At Mike's previous employer, he successfully served as both Project Engineer and Assistant Superintendent on a $35M office building project, finishing on time, within the project budget, and achieving the highest rating in LEED green building certifications for the core & shell and tenant improvement phases. Mike's personal interests have developed a personality and skillset that works well in the project management field, and he's continually striving to improve in any possible way. Mike has been interested in technology his entire life, starting with programming simple games on an Apple IIe in kindergarten, teaching himself AutoCAD at age 5, building his own computers since he was a teenager, and pushing CDOT construction projects to be as-paperless-as-possible since day one. The outdoors have long interested Mike, which led to the development of leadership and speaking skills. In recent years he's planned and led a successful expedition to ski off the summit of Denali, joined the board of a non-profit avalanche education group, and is now doing several two-hour presentations on avalanche safety to groups of 50-100 per year. And with a dedication to continually improving, he has earned his Project Management Professional certification through the PMI.
