WORK OBJECTIVES:Reporting to the project supervisors, the Forest Silviculture Research Technician will be part of a professional team studying the various impacts of forest silvicultural manipulations on forest production indices. • Assist NRCan researchers in collecting field data associated with multiple forest silvicultural research studies at the Petawawa Research Forest. • Required to prepare all necessary field equipment and data recording materials for field data collection, as well as collect, record and verify the field data pertaining to forest vegetative responses to the various impacts of forest silvicultural manipulations. • Required knowledge of forest silvicultural prescriptions and forest mensurational procedures and forest plant identification. • Primarily work outdoors, under a variety of environmental conditions, walk over inclement surfaces and stand for extended periods of time. • Basic computer word processing and spreadsheet skills are required. • Conduct field data collection – Work within a field team to collect specific research data from multiple research sites at the Petawawa Research Forest.• Complete data entry and verification – Collect all field data as prescribed by project supervisors in an orderly and timely fashion.
