As a Senior Manufacturing Specialist my job involves:Creation of ISI producibility design rules and interim product / product families.Develop production norms by interim products based on time studies and data analysis.Development of the Manufacturing Instructions and Process Build Documentation for manufacturing and construction of the future Canadian Surface Combatant Ship.Supporting the design reviews for producibility through design rules.Interface with design agent to better understand the challenges of building a complex frigate and to capture lessons learned.Supporting the Continuous Improvement process by highlighting and implementing new ways of working.

As a Senior Engineer my responsibilities include:• Reviewing complex engineering drawings, engineering requirements and nuclear safety requirements to author high quality and accurate nuclear / reactor build procedures which are clear, legible, safe, correctly sequenced, whilst meeting design intent stakeholders expectations;• Ensuring that nuclear build procedures satisfy the design, safety case, security and health and safety requirements;• Frequently reviewing and revising nuclear build procedure production schedules, whilst monitoring and developing these in line with stakeholder, material and programme requirements;• Managing and maintaining nuclear build procedures (and accurate associated records) through the use of applicable document management systems, such as Windchill, Teamcenter, Business Process Management System etc.• Reviewing technical documentation and creation of new documentation and processes discrete to the Dreadnought design and build;• Articulating and presenting nuclear build procedures to the Procedure Authorisation Group (PAG) for assessment and approval and, where required, amend procedures in accordance with PAG feedback.

As a Support Engineer my responsibilities included:• Producing technical information within maintenance schedules in accordance with relevant logistic support information programmes, such as RCM studies (Reliability Centred Maintenance) and identify potential issues and risks;• Collect, collate, interpret, summarise and input Logistic Support Information (LSI) data using the relevant software packages (Raytheon Eagle, Arbortext, UMMS Database);• Work with internal and external stakeholders from a number of different disciplines (for example, Supply Chain or MoD personnel) through meetings and telephone conversations;• Using the UMMS Database (Unit Maintenance Management System) in order to schedule maintenance in line with the Build test & commissioning plan, administration, task and asset linking, toolkit interrogation etc;• Regularly interpret data on build materials, allocate spares and maintenance tasks on various pieces of equipment and interpret technical drawings and breakdowns of the drawings and materials needed;• Provide support and guidance to Project Engineers and Trainee's in the support information team;• Facilitate scheduled data deliveries from specific departmental databases (e.g. MCDB, 10E, CSDB, SCP, and APIS) to support IETP build and Boat build deadlines.

As a Plant Electrician my job entailed:• Maintaining, servicing and repairing welding equipment and machines;• Working on a varying assortment of live electrical equipment ranging from 55 to 415 volts;• Responsible for fault finding and rectification work on site equipment and facilities;• Using my own initiative and experience to rectify any issue put before me in as short a time as possible;• Provide support and guidance to Apprentice's and improve their knowledge of best working practices;• Conversant with Health and Safety Processes due to lone working on Shifts;• Wiring / Soldering and assembling electronics;• Undertaking inspection and / or test where trained and requested to do so;• Experienced in PCB wiring and terminating.

During my 3 year Electrical Apprenticeship I gained knowledge and experience on the following:• Installed Electrical systems and rectified any defects within the build program;• Worked with smaller equipment such as Conduit, Cable Tray, Trunking, Soldering, Crimping, and many others;• Involved with the supply and powering up of generators and transformers;• Maintained the site services and facilities around the Barrow Shipyard, including Emergent Work and callouts;• Part of a small and unique team to assist with the launch of one of the Astute Class Submarines• Carried out installation work within the Nuclear Reactor of the Astute Class Submarine whilst gaining knowledge and experience within the NSRP Build and Installation;• Carried out installation work on the Common Combat System and gained experience of the systems involved.Because of my apprenticeship within BAE Systems I have vast experience throughout the Electricians role; I am competent at my job and can safely and effectively work on a majority of Electrical Systems put before me, I’m always keen to do any training which helps me progress in my career

Skills and experiences acquired from being a Lance Corporal in the British Army included:• Lance Corporal and the second in command of a team of 10 soldiers;• Leadership skills were required to be second to none, given responsibility for making quick command decisions in hostile environments and situations;• Such leadership skills and qualities gained were invaluable given that they cannot be taught anywhere else outside of the armed forces;• Was required, as a forward observation post signaller, to send fire orders via the radio network to the Artillery; role bore great responsibility that relied heavily upon excellent map reading skills, co-ordination skills and leadership under duress;• Operated the AS90 battle tank as a driver/gunner/maintainer;• Fire safety trained and effectively carried out firefighting duties at times of need;Gunner responsibilities included:• Loading and charging 155mm Artillery shells, • Security of compounds in hostile environments, • Maintaining the AS90 Battle tank and being on the front line in war zones such as Iraq,• Served as an M119 Howitzer operator as part of a successful crew that used this effectively in operational theatres and training environments
