As a Project Manager for Trova Design Consultants I have a variety of different responsibilities. The main service we provide is Mechanical, Plumbing and Electrical coordination in commercial structures, which gives me well rounded knowledge of each trade. My daily tasks include 3D modeling based off contract drawings, creating clash reports in Navisworks amongst other trades, writing RFI’s, sitting in on coordination meetings and annotating drawings for the contractor to install from. Aside from construction coordination we also provide general drafting services, which range from creating sheets in AutoCAD from pencil sketches, to updating projects to meet As-Built conditions. Working here has highly enhanced my skills in Revit, AutoCAD and Navisworks software, and has really shown me what it takes for a building to be constructed from start to finish.

This position was my first job out of college in the construction industry. I was responsible for updating all the Architectural and Structural backgrounds in the directory for all the projects, along with cleaning up the backgrounds so they look uniform across all the trades. In college, I learned the basics of AutoCAD and Revit, but working here is what made me proficient in using them in a real-world setting. My other day to day tasks included setting up the initial Revit projects, creating Revit families for others to use, and sitting in on BIM meetings for various projects.

I spent two summer vacations during college working as a full time laborer. Most of my time was spent working on the production line in the block plant making many different types of concrete blocks. From this job I obtained my license to operate a forklift, which was essential for the job.Aside from the block plant I also took part in a number of other task such as making precast chimney caps, concrete pads and splash blocks, cleaning the mixer and doing general cleaning tasks.
