• Inspect hoses for defects in sleeves, communication cables, and quick disconnects to ensure no leaks or broken communication is present. Assist in manufacturing new units and make ready for deployment. This consists of wiring, plumbing airlines, running communication cables, fabricating brackets, and setting up needed communication devices.• Maintain good housekeeping to ensure materials are in proper areas to make workflow more efficient.• Assist in spotting of trailers in need of repairs/manufacturing

• Work on-call hours, rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.• Record conditions of cars, and repair and maintenance work performed or to be performed.• Responsible for rail car inspection and maintenance in accordance with FRA and AAR regulations.• Identify if repairs are needed using cranes, pneumatic/hand tools, pinch bars, cutting torches, etc.• Perform air brake tests to determine defects in the air brake system and maintain, replace, and repair air brake pipes, valves, gaskets, air hoses, and other equipment as needed.• Inspect the interior and exterior of rail cars coming into the rail yard in order to identify deficiencies and to determine the extent of wear and damage that needs repair.• Inspect components such as bearings, seals, gaskets, pistons, wheels, gears, and coupler assemblies.
