Over the last decade, I have had the opportunity to work in both the academic and federal IT spaces. In that time, I've developed the work philosophy of delivering the best possible end user experience, while ensuring that the system's resources are adequately guarded against threats, both internal and external. While my focus is federal compliance, I am always seeking technical challenges in Linux, Windows, and Cloud environments. What can I say, troubleshooting is fun!As an Information System Security Officer (ISSO) at the NASA Goddard Space and Flight center, I have worked with two systems to produce a thorough and complete System Security Plan following the relevant NIST Special Publication guidelines. I have been through several successful Assessments, and I take pride in being the primary point of contact for completing these activities. In my Systems Administration duties, I am primarily responsible for managing certificates across over a hundred systems, and coming up with fixes for workstations and servers alike. My methodical approaches to troubleshooting complement varied experience with different Operating Systems and machine types. I am also responsible for architecting our prototype ArcGIS Enterprise environment. While I have handed these duties off to another SA, I do my best to stay involved in major activities to provide redundancy for the role. If I have not already done it, I do my best to learn it!Finally, I do my best to maintain a hard working, but sympathetic work philosophy. I believe that people are our greatest resource, and trying to find the best ways to work and support them tend to yield the best final result. It is also important to have a friendly, jovial environment when possible, but a serious solutions focused one when necessary.
