About Michael Iv Betar
My first experience in media creation and production was on the playground when I sold comics that I helped design and publish with my friend. Although I had gotten in trouble for receiving money while in Elementary School, my parents and teachers did encourage me to further my creative pursuits.Since I was about 8 years old I had started recording, editing, and publishing films and videos on YouTube where I had learned the process of Pre-Production, Production, and Post-Production of entertainment media. Although initially I had wanted to go into movies and television, I found that interactive media such as Video Games was where I was truly passionate as you can fully explore innovative ways to tell stories and design a complete world to immerse people into.Upon entering college at Indiana University, I zoned in on getting myself involved with different projects and courses to learn more about how to create immersive media. I have found myself creating Soundscapes, music, Gameplay Mechanics, Branching Narrative Stories, and many more different aspects of Game Design through my studies in college. A lot of these projects can further be looked into on my website portfolio listed at the bottom of my Summary but my favorite positions that I have worked at so far have been as the Audio Director for the "A.N.T.S. LLC" and as President of the student led organization, "Game Developers at Indiana University (GD@IU)." Outside of my studies, I have also found work involving games such as my Lab Monitor work position at my School and my weekend retail job at a Game Store. I find these two jobs to be extremely important as my Lab Monitor position helps me learn more about troubleshooting the applications and programs used to make media and my retail position helps me learn more about the market for games as well as speaking to video game players in a local community. I aspire to learn more about the innovative technologies that can be used to tell stories in the future and to use these technologies to create experiences for all to enjoy. Outside of my studies in Video Game Design, I also have been learning more about Virtual Reality applications, Machine Learning with AI, and amazing projects both online and in-person of using new technologies to immerse people into amazing works.
