Park Lane branch of WHSmith consisting of a cafe and main store for the better part of three years, starting August 2019 to present. Although I initially began by serving food and beverages in the cafe section of the store my hours were soon increased due to a hard work ethic and reliability. With my hours increased so did my responsibilities. I gradually gained experience in stock taking, magazine and newspaper claims and deliveries, accepting new weekly stock as well as order taking and the general overall tasks required for the running of both stores. Due to staff shortages caused by the ongoing pandemic and my ability to handle the various requirements of both stores, I learnt to take on more than one task simultaneously, under circumstances that would have normally required two or more people to complete. As a result I was able to work effectively under pressure and in sometimes stressful situations which granted me a greater appreciation of what it means to successfully run a well-functioning store as part of a collaborative team. Additionally I was able to prove flexibility and adaptability under constantly changing circumstances as recently demonstrated with a change in the stores management, where I was able to adapt quickly and easily to the new managers style and requirements.
