Assisted in the contract writing as well as the administrative tasks associated with initial project startup. Attended public meetings to discuss concerns with residents of Valley Park. Primary point of contact for: contract language, project budget, disadvantaged business and workforce diversity, and utility coordination. I worked with consultants and other departments to provide nearly half a million dollars in savings to the preliminary engineering budget. Contract writing process provided exposure to a number of engineering considerations including: threatened and endangered species, public involvement, Army Corps levee avoidance, congestion and mitigation funding requirements, historic preservation, traffic engineering, structural considerations, underground storage tank removal, soil analysis, public park/land avoidance, utility coordination, budget reviews, schedule revisions, third party involvement, right of way considerations, historic flooding, bonding and insurance questions, legal consultation, sound studies, and most importantly - working as a team.

Brought on during the final construction months of this award winning and successful design-build project. Duties were to assist the core DOT and contractor staff with finishing and closing out the project.
