MJB Engineering specialized in offshore manufacturing resource management with a primary focus on providing high quality CNC machined parts for a variety of industrial applications. We started MJB in 2003 and got our business license in 2004. MJB managed resources in machining, sand and investment casting, permanent mold casting, finish machining, plastic injection molds and parts, plus stamping and several secondary manufacturing operations. Our goal was to provide high quality parts at a fair price delivered on time. Building stable manufacturing networks by creating positive and productive supplier relationships was an important aspect of our company's work, and vital with respect to lowering manufacturing costs.

My wife and I opened an English school in Taiwan teaching both children and adults. There were many children. Wow, kids everywhere. This was a fun and successful business however, MJB Engineering became increasingly busy so we gradually closed the school and sold all of the assets to another school. I say thanks to the children and parents who supported us in this difficult decision.

I accepted an offer to teach English in Taiwan a few years ago. I taught adults only. This was a great opportunity to explore Asia, make new friends, discover new cultures and learn to speak Chinese. I left this position because creating my own school understandably created a conflict of interest.

This was a contract position to design wing tools for Bombardier. I coached CATIA v4 and v5 to young Taiwanese aerospace engineers. A new president came into power in Taiwan at that time and a two year contract was suddenly terminated. Politics, what can you do? I liked Taiwan though and later went back there again on my own.

Contract Tool design using CATIA v4.1.9. This project involved the design of JDT's for Boeing 747 skin panels. The tooling method required the modification of engineering surfaces followed by the creation of simple offset surfaces converted into solids. This allowed us to establish logically linked flat patterns essential to the accurate fabrication of flexible tooling. The logical links between parent and child surfaces insure accurate wrap back to contoured production surfaces which in turn, in theory anyway, reduce costly NC programming errors, rework and scrap. This was a great crew of designers to work with.

I designed a variety of highly specialized assembly and handling tools required for the final assembly of turbine engines. Pacific engineering is a subcontractor for for Solor Turbines. Almost all of these designs were accomplished using a drafting board and vellum. All of the mechanical engineering mathematics were accomplished in long hand. I mention this because we have become so used to the computer doing this work for us.

I designed progressive expanding form and punch dies, mill fixtures, and some assembly jigs for General Electric jet engines. This was really a short term contract. I was hoping to get on full time but it never happened.

I designed Lockheed-Martin F-22A production tools, Gulfstream leading edge tools, and miscellaneous Boeing and Rohr milling fixtures and some composite bond fixtures with multiple and variable shrink points. I recieved the presidents recognition award for outstanding performance.

2/94 to 10/94: Boeing DRC, Door Responsibility Center. Responsible for the design and liaison engineering of 737 and 757 aircraft door tools, (i.e. Master Gages, FAJ's, DJ's, and LJ's). I was heavily involved in re-engineering efforts focused on the principles of TQM, JIT, WCC, Kanban and Kitting. Used SPC and assisted in preparations for obtaining ISO 9000 certification. I utilized the following software, CATIA v4, REDARS, Corel Draw, MS Word, Excell, Powerpoint, and Freelance. 8/91 to 2/94: Boeing 777 Division, Tool Engineering Wing Group. I conceptualized the design concepts for many leading edge slat tools. I designed trailing edge and body section tools. I received certificates of appreciation, R18323, R92822, R91820, and R20483. I received the 777 Team "Golden Ears" Award and the April 9, 1994 777 Silver Coin and 777 first flight post card. I was an active member of several DBT, design build teams. This was serious business but so much fun.7/86 to 8/91: Boeing Renton Division. I was in the Structures and Wing Group. Tool design engineering with exposure and training in liaison engineering and planning. I worked on the 707, E-3A, AWACS, 737, 757, 747, and the 767. I was mostly assigned to wing projects. I was in the first group of design engineers to learn CATIA v3. I also provided board designs using Vellum, Mylar, and Sepia media.

I was a crew chief on CH-47 helicopters and also a radar operator for Hawk Missiles. I am a Viet Nam Era Vet. E5. I served my country with honor and pride.
