Mr. Bloomfield conceived of establishing a distribution company to supply replacement parts for GSE. Typically, GSE replacement parts were supplied from either the OEM. Michael felt this supply method was inefficient and costly for the end users. To provide an improved method of distributing parts, Michael teamed with his business partner Mark Pollack and identified a small GSE maintenance company that had compiled data on part number cross-references and sourced information. They acquired their data and created Sage Parts. Early on, they focused on processes, systems, and supply chains to position the company for growth. To further benefit the end-users, they aggerated the supply chain and created a single supply source and a lower-cost option for customers. By aggerating the supply chain, the company could operate cost-effectively and build purchasing power to influence product supply and quality. Through organic growth and 4 acquisitions, the company grew very quickly and reached revenues of over $130 million, built a team of 350+ employees, and operated 24 locations across 5 continents.At Sage Parts, Michael Bloomfield performed all entrepreneurial aspects of the business, focusing on revenue growth, product management, product engineering and development, brand creation, and marketing. His strategic decisions and leadership led to the business generating over $2 billion in cumulative revenue during his tenure with Sage Parts.Before his successful tenure at Sage Parts, Michael Bloomfield's career in the aviation industry was marked by executive positions, showcasing his versatility and adaptability. He held key roles at CAMP Systems, a leading supplier of integrated software and systems for aircraft maintenance tracking and operations scheduling; Execaire, Inc., Canada’s largest aircraft management company; Jetway Systems, a prominent supplier of passenger boarding bridges; and GSE. His career also included valuable stints with ground handling companies, GSE manufacturers, and aircraft component manufacturers. His innovative thinking and problem-solving skills were recognized with numerous patents for various GSE and component designs, a testament to his contributions and expertise in the industry. Michael Bloomfield has served on the International Airport Equipment Manufacturers' Association board since its inception and held the position of Board Chair.Currently, Mr. Bloomfield is an active consultant who focuses on business development and advises companies on a wide range of issues and requirements.
