I am a K9 handler for the Niagara Frontier Transit Authority Police within the Department of Homeland Security National Explosives Canine Program. This highly sought-after position is only offered to officers with exemplary performance, and I am proud to be entrusted with a Federal canine. Among many things, I have had the opportunity to travel around the country and serve on national security details, including two Superbowls and Presidential motorcades. I also serve on the TAPD's Accident Investigation Unit and police the Buffalo Airport and other NFTA transit assets. My background includes: * Investigating and managing the aftermath of motor vehicle and light rail accidents that have resulted in serious injury and fatalities.* Responding to slips and falls and managing field expert evaluations of property and structural damage.* Collecting, reviewing, and analyzing physical evidence and reporting findings as testimony in criminal and civil courts. * Photographing physical property and accidents, taking measurements, and completing field sketches using special software to render crash scenes in 2D.* Interviewing witnesses, interrogating suspects, issuing citations, and conducting criminal arrests.* Functioning as a liaison with NFTA Claims team regarding accident, personal injury, and insurance claim information. * Analyzing information from various databases while maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive security information.I also serve as a Board member of the Police Benevolent Association and function as the Safety Liasion for the NFTA. This includes working with the NFTA's HSEQ team, investigating workplace accidents, and making recommendations to support the continued safety of employees and visitors.
