About Michael B.
Hello! I'm Michael Bonnet. I am a generalist spacecraft software engineer (ground, flight, guidance, and full stack) and an all-around space and aerospace enthusiast. I graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a B.S. in Computer Science and a Certificate in Unmanned Vehicle Systems. I've been into space and aerospace from a young age, a love given to me by my father who worked for the United States Air Force and my uncle who flew for the US Army Air Corps and later USAF. My skills and interests lie primarily in the fields of robotics and autonomous vehicles, especially in the realm of aerospace. My strong work ethic, interpersonal skills, industry experience, and technical prowess make me a great team member and learner. When not working or studying, I enjoy learning about aviation, flying drones, doing personal robotics and open-source projects, watching and playing basketball, climbing, and volunteering.Previously, I was at Lockheed Martin for over a year across two intern/co-op roles, working in DevOps as well as on the F-35 and Patriot (PAC-3) missile programs. In undergrad, I led my senior design team in designing and implementing a hexacopter drone carrying a penetration testing Raspberry Pi running Kali Linux, remotely controlled using a novel LoRa radio-based console emulation method. Our team finished five months ahead of time and 85% under sponsored budget. At Terran Orbital, I wrote flight software, worked Mission Operations for Earth-orbiting and translunar missions, and managed hardware labs. At Turion Space, I touched every piece of software we had, from flight to ground to cloud.Primary Languages and Libraries: (Embedded) C++, C, Go, Rust, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript; React, Pandas, Skyfield, SGP4, SciPyHardware: Xilinx products (PicoZed SOM), Robots, Raspberry Pi, Flight Controllers (PX4/Pixhawk), Microcontrollers (Arduino, Teensy, ESP8266/ESP32/STM32/MSP430)Competencies: *nix/Linux, Windows, Git, Bash, CLI, Vim, React, PostgreSQLOther Technical Skills: Flight Software, Embedded Software, Linux App Development, Agile Development, Technical Writing, Software Documentation, Computer Vision, Robotics, Autonomous Vehicles, Drones, Jira/Confluence/Atlassian productsPortfolio: https://github.com/MichaelBonnetWebsite: https://michaelbonnet.github.io/
