• Perform safety audits, inspections, and testing in the areas of fire/life safety, safety certifications, and transit operations on transit facilities and operating divisions.
• Administer, maintain and update the transit system Emergency Operations Plan, designing and leading disaster exercises, training new Emergency Operations Center team members, and serving as the VTA Disaster.
• Supervise Emergency Response Teams. Providing exercises (i.e. fire drills, simulations of earthquakes, etc.) and handling equipment needs for the teams. Coordinate drills and exercises with local fire departments.
• Lead the Safety Certification process for specific VTA rail system elements, providing final reports to State regulatory agencies. Investigate train and bus incidents and accidents involving the public, contractors.
