Mechanical design of RF/RFID antenna systems for retail security and inventory management. Mechanical design of high security anti-theft devices (Checkpoint's Alpha product line). Involves inventing unique ways of locking onto/around products and novel methods of deterring theft, providing tamper alarms, and denying the benefit of theft. Design of injection molded electronics enclosures, sheet metal assemblies and brackets, castings, extrusions, and machined parts.Build functional production quality prototypes by utilizing in-house 3D printers of various technologies (FDM/SLA) and outside vendors for metal components. Quantities vary from 10's to 100's of pieces. Produce 2D engineering drawings for manufacturing.Work with PDM software to manage CAD files and revision control. Implement conductive ink solutions on new and existing industrial and consumer products to make them "smart" and interact with the consumer.Project Lead and Mechanical Design Engineer for T+ink's Smart Peg and Smart Shelf products. Smart Peg and Smart Shelf are IoT sensors that provide "real-time" inventory data and SKU recognition of products for retailers. Responsible for design of mechanical components (injection molded housings, sheet metal brackets, circuit films), assembly concepts, prototyping and manufacturing, as well as general project management. Developed prototypes for multiple Fortune 500 companies (within the top 100) in fields such as: consumer packaged goods, food and beverage, retail and aviation. Redesigning of keyboards, button/switch panels, and user interfaces from mechanical switches to printed capacitive touch switches using T+ink's patented "in-mold" process. Design of test fixtures and electrical measurement systems for quality control of conductive ink films.Design of assembly and manufacturing fixtures.3-D printing of models and functional prototypes using in-house FDM 3-D printers. All CAD modeling done with Solidworks.

Re-design and re-engineer heat exchangers for industrial applications i.e. loaders, lifttrucks, tractor-trailers, cranes, generators and construction equipment. New units wereconstructed out of aluminum to increase heat transfer capacity and reduce weight.Design various components out of sheet metal. Experience using CNC punch press andFabriwin software to cut out sheet metal flat patterns.Design assembly and machining fixtures.Design mounting brackets/panels to resolve issues with failing units. Write installationinstructions for new brackets and panels.Verify drawings and new units against the original manufacturer’s design. Conveydesign intent and critical dimensions to Chinese engineers and tool makers despitelanguage barriers.Work with veteran pattern maker to design sand casting tooling in Solidworks. Together we developed a clean modeling workflow, utilizing in-context references, so that the final tooling models were directly linked to the original casting model and changes made to the casting trickled down from the parent models to the pattern tooling instantly. Modeled final cast product, sand cores, core boxes, match plates, cope/drag plates, and even sand molds to visualizes placement on cores in the mold.All CAD modeling done with Solidworks.
