I functioned as a mechanical design engineer and project engineer as well. I was responsible to provide design solutions incorporating robotics and automation components to meet customer expectations and requirements. This required specifying appropriate components to meet the design criteria of the project. At times, I also managed other design engineers that were assigned to my projects guiding and directing their efforts to the project needs. I also provided onsite support during build and assembly of projects.

I worked on the Steiner product line, an articulating 4-wheel drive tractor that uses an assortment of front and rear attachment accessories. I provided design-engineering support in the following areas, structural steel, sheet metal, mechanisms (linkages, motion transfer, etc.), ergonomics, automotive level electrical systems, hydraulics packaging, plastics, and materials.

Using CREO 2.0 and Windchill DBM with ProjectLink, I worked in the Liquid-Cooled Engine Industrial Power product line. Worked on 33.9L and 49.0L engines with generator sets from 750kW to 1000kW output power. Provided design expertise in developing the structural sub-frame that supports the entire engine gen-set assembly. Developed new enclosure frame bases for 33.9L and 49.0L engine gen-set product lines. I also worked on the oil feed and drain sub-systems for the engine turbo-chargers on the 49.0L engine applications.

Using CREO 2.0 and Windchill DBMS provided innovative design solutions for ceiling and wall fan ventilation systems, trash compactors, solar panel attic ventilation systems, outdoor lighting systems and related accessories. This involves the knowledge and application of electromechanical systems, sheet metal technology, plastic materials, and plastic component design principles, AC motors, fans/blowers, thermodynamics, air fluid-flow science, noise and vibration mechanics, and related manufacturing processes. •Thorough application of form, fit, and function criteria, dimensional analysis, statistical analysis, GD&T are incorporated to produce robust designs and engineering solutions. Design engineering concentrated on sheet metal and plastic components and assemblies. Sheet metal designed parts ranged from free-form tooling to progressive die produced parts. Plastic part design included blow-molding, thermal-forming and injection molded type parts.
