This saves cost and time in acquiring and training new talent, reducing loss of productivity.2. Performance with Purpose.I believe in my Everyday Performance Management skills. It is important to check in regularly with employees, to coach them, to develop their talent and to give immediate direct feedback. To address issues as they arise is vital in providing guidance on current issues and improving outcomes. Performance reviews are a powerful and useful tool for the skilled leader to use and effective best when daily communication happens transparently.3. Numbers.Over the past 11 years, I have precisely prepared the annual budget for the area of Grounds Operations, and operated and maintained it within the confines of the budget allotment. Also, since the late 1990’s, I have been providing the degree days (DDB50) to the Morton Arboretum. I have used this information as a tool to inform my staff what key pests to monitor and it has been useful tool within the plant health care program I provide.4. Presentations and Training.Sharing what I know with others has always been part of my leadership style. I have had the opportunity to speak at other venues including: IPRA 2016 Annual Soaring to New Heights Conference speaker on Performance Reviews, presentation at the Northbrook Garden Club, Northbrook Park District lectures on the Four Seasons of Landscaping. In addition, I have been involved in teaching safety and training skills with others including Medic First Aid-Instructor CPR/AED (Adult/Pediatric) in 2017 & 2018, and spring seasonal orientation and safety training for many years.
