I represent people that have been arrested or convicted of serious criminal offenses in trial courts and on appeal.

ERISA litigation.

Participated in class-action litigation with the Consumer Protection and Unsafe Products group. Drafted pleadings, memoranda of law, discovery requests, settlement agreements, and other legal documents. Conducted discovery, consult with clients, and assist in deposition preparation. Draft class certification and settlement approval briefs. Worked closely with a range of state and federal financial services and consumer protection laws and regulations including, TILA, RESPA, FCRA, TCPA, and FDCPA.

Conducted legal research and drafted briefs and memoranda on assorted issues of importance to the Association. Areas of practice included First Amendment, civil rights, collective bargaining rights, election, employment, and contract law. Coordinated with state affiliates on legal issues and political action.

Drafted legislative and political memoranda and analyzed legislation. Worked closely with NEA’s lobbyist team, attended hearings and mark-ups and represented NEA at policy meetings. Collaborated with other education and lobbying organizations including the Committee for Education Funding and AFT. Responsible for several major policy research projects comparing proposed legislation with language supported by the Association. Issues focused on included NCLB/ESEA, WIA, pensions and entitlements, as well as the implications of the debt ceiling crisis for education funding.

Drafted motions, briefs, and other litigation materials for plaintiff side consumer litigation boutique. Conducted research and worked with attorneys to develop litigation strategies. Focus on Fair Credit Reporting Act, Fair and Accurate Credit Transaction Act and Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

Drafted documents for tenant rights litigation. Interviewed clients and managed cases. Appeared on behalf of tenants in unlawful detainer actions in Minneapolis housing court. Worked with staff attorneys to develop litigation strategy and prepare for trial. Developed and executed several Minnesota housing policy projects.

Research Assistant for the criminal justice team. Work on various research and drafting assignment for the Minnesota House's non-partisan research office.
