Indonesia

Consulting Services are provided through MJB Hoteliers.Initially as Head of Hotel & Resort Operations Asia Pacific, which included management oversight for hotel operations across Asia Pacific and coordination with Travel + Leisure and Wyndham Destination's Vacation Club business - up to 2021.The current consulting includes responsibilities as Country Head for Indonesia, with specific oversight for hotel operations and coordination with Club Wyndham Asia Vacation Club.

South East Asia

Consulting Services were provided through MJB Hoteliers (Singapore) and included Regional Management of Hotel Operations, including opening, transition & branding services in Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and other areas in the South East Asia region.Wyndham Hotel Group separated from Wyndham Destinations in June 2018; up to January 2019 the consulting services were provided to both Wyndham groups.

Indonesia

Consulting Services were provided through MJB Hoteliers to support the establishment of Mantra Group, Australia in Indonesia.The role of Country Head included responsibilities to secure management projects; hotel & resort management; and all related business requirements.Mantra Group sold to Accor in 2017.

Bali Province, Indonesia

Conrad Bali opened in March 2004, where Michael spent the first year prior to opening focused on project management and pre opening preparations.The opening budget showed a saving of 20%, and the property has consistently achieved GOP levels between 48% and 52%.Recognition included Conde Nast Hot List; Spa Crystal Awards; and various restaurant accolades.Michael has been an active leader since returning to Bali - as a Board Member for the Bali Hotels Association, three years as Chairman and three years as Vice Chairman; and Vice Chairman Indonesian Hotel & Restaurant Association.Other past and current interests and activities include Rotary International, Past President & Board Member; Chaine des Rotisseurs, currently Bailli de Bali.

Thailand

Royal Garden Resorts (RGR) is the management company for the Marriott franchises in Thailand and the Anantara Group, and investments in hospitality made by Minor Group, the main parent company.Michael's position with RGR included multiple tasks and roles, including the rebranding of the existing Royal Garden Resorts to Marriott (Bangkok, Hua Hin & Pattaya) and the creation of a new brand Anantara for the second RGR property in Hua Hin.As Vice President Operations he oversaw the day-to-day operations of the various properties under direct management, which included the 3 Marriott franchise properties, Anantara and Royal Garden Haiphong Vietnam; in addition he held the position of General Manager for Marriott Bangkok.Operations project management support was also provided to the Development Team for JW Marriott Phuket (under construction at the time, opened in December 2001), and other projects in various stages of development.As a Director of Royal Garden Resorts he was also a Director on the Boards for Four Seasons Bangkok & Chiang Mai, and the JW Marriott Phuket.

Sentosa, Singapore

Adrian Zecha (Aman Resorts & GHM) had recently taken over management of The Beaufort with a brief from the owner's, HKR, to return the property to the luxury positioning it held previously. This was in anticipation of additional investment in a destination spa and upgrading of the various F&B facilities.Michael's role as General Manager was to introduce the appropriate operating standards in order for the property to compete in the luxury sector, and to prepare for the planned upgrading.

Perth, Australia

After 17 years with Regent & Four Seasons Michael returned to Perth to assist the Hancock Group set up a property division focused on hotels & resorts. Projects included two eco-developments in the North-West of Australia, both earmarked for Four Seasons. An MOU was also signed with Aman Resorts, which did not eventuate as Hancock Group shifted their focus back to mining.Other management and consulting contracts during this period included: Melbourne Hotel, Perth; various design & project consulting for Coney Stevens, Colonial Mutual & Leighton Group.Consulting services were also provided to Carlson Group who were involved in The Regent Mumbai. The project had stopped prior to opening, and Michael's role included assisting the owner to restart the project, while preparing for the soft opening; including the hiring of a management team for the ongoing operation.

Various

Michael's career with Regent began at The Regent Fiji, followed by two opening opportunities at The Regent Sydney and The Regent Auckland. His career then took him to China where Regent were assisting the Jin Jiang Group with the Peace Hotel Shanghai. He relocated to Chicago as General Manager of the Mayfair Regent, where he repositioned the property from loss to profit, and received recognition as one of "America's Best Small Hotels" by Conde Nast, in addition to various accolades for Ciel Bleu, the hotel's rooftop signature restaurant.In January 1991 he moved to Bali to open The Regent Bali, which eventually became Four Seasons Bali following Four Seasons' acquisition of Regent International Hotels. During the Resort's first year of operation, recognition by Andrew Harper, Conde Nast, and many other international rating companies, quickly established Four Seasons as Bali's leading luxury property.After a little over two years in Bali, and a year after opening, he was transferred to restart The Regent Jakarta project (now Four Seasons) which had stalled three years earlier. The property opened in 1995 and soon established itself as one of Jakarta's leading business and preferred hotels for the local and international communities.

United Kingdom

Following two years at University and working in his parent's hotel, Michael was given the opportunity as a Management Trainee with Rank Hotels. During his 5 years in various properties, mostly in London, he completed his traineeship and grew within Rank's management system, holding Department Head positions in Rooms, F&B and the Sales Divisions.
