At The Oakleaf Group and Basis Point Analytics, I worked with high-level risk managers to assess the veracity of models and modeling assumptions presented to us by a large US Government-Sponsored Enterprise with respect to their MBS holdings. Our efforts focused on ensuring that models created by the GSE's internal modeling team were consistent with the findings of their internal research team. We also suggested changes that could be made to both the model itself and variables within it to optimize the quality of the output. Our goal was to assist the GSE in minimizing and quantifying the portfolio risk of their holdings.

My position as a student researcher was an extension of my computer science thesis. The code I created for that thesis scraped data from a third-party website, stored it in an SQL database, and analyzed the information using a custom NLP model. After seeing the project, a Hamilton Economics Professor asked to use the code to support his own research efforts. My understanding is that the code is still utilized in that effort today.
