Michael Garrett is active in the representation of citizens who are being prosecuted or are under investigation for alleged criminal wrongdoing. His practice is focused on the areas of white collar criminal defense and general criminal defense. Mike practices in both State and Federal Courts. Mike is celebrating his 20th-year inclusion in the 20th Edition of Best Lawyers in America for the practice areas of White Collar Criminal Defense as well as general Non-White Collar Criminal Defense. For 27 years, he has also been recognized in the prestigious lawyers’ digest Martindale-Hubbell, as an AV Preeminent Lawyer, the highest possible rating given for both legal ability and ethical standards. For 26 years he has been selected for inclusion on the list of Georgia Super Lawyers, a list published yearly in Atlanta Magazine and an honor reserved for those who exhibit excellence in their legal practice. He maintains his law office at 699 Broad Street, Suite 1010, Augusta, Georgia.Mike is a graduate of The University of Georgia School of Law where he served as the Articles of Editor of the Georgia Law Review. He did his undergraduate studies at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he graduated with Honors in Psychology. He is a proud member of The Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (GACDL) of which he is a former President. He has served two terms as Chairman of the Criminal Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia. He is also a proud member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL) and has served on its White Collar Crime Committee, Ethics Committee and Capital Defense Committee. Mr. Garrett is a frequent lecturer on topics in criminal law at various legal organizations, seminars and judicial conferences.
