Michael Taylor is the founder of Michael Taylor Architecture + Design, which builds on the legacy of Taylor Smyth Architects which he cofounded in 2000. His hands-on approach to design is based on creating a partnership with his clients to craft thoughtful and enduring spaces that have benefited from his hands-on approach and careful attention to detail and materiality.Over the past 30 years, he has completed 20 custom residences, numerous projects for the Toronto District School Board, the $10 million Centennial Community Center, and many workplace projects. Michael’s work has received over 25 awards for design excellence, including 3 Ontario Association of Architects awards, one of which also received the People’s Choice award, as well as a Toronto Urban Design Award for the Market Street Redevelopment. His work has been recognized with over 25 awards for design excellence, and has been extensively published both nationally and InternationallyHis approach to custom residential design, both new construction and renovation/addition, is founded on collaborating with his clients to create thoughtful, enduring spaces that merge interior and exterior into a harmonious whole.
