The Deputy Fire Commissioner reports to the Fire Commissioner for the operational, fiscal, administrative, and personnel functions of the bureau, one of four bureaus within the Chicago Fire Department. Ensures the appropriate enforcement of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, and ensures policy and procedural orders are enforced. There are seven functional divisions within the Bureau of Logistics. Those divisions are: Fire Suppression Logistics, EMS Logistics, Breathing Apparatus Services, Internet Technology, Building & Property Management, Office of Emergency Management & Communications (OEMC) Liaison and Department Commissary.Develops and administers an annual non-personnel operating budget in excess of $10 million, which includes productivity reports, as well as strategic tactical objectives and initiatives, including the efficient management of the budget by initiating, monitoring and tracking purchases through the utilization of the Finance Management System (FMS). Also develops and administers an annual equipment note budget in excess of $25 million, which includes primary responsibility for the specification and authorization for the purchase of new apparatus and equipment. Regularly meets and strategizes with representatives of other city agencies relative to interdepartmental cooperation in meeting the needs of the fire department.Also assumes on-call, city-wide emergency response duties to command suppression and extinguishment operations at large-scale fires, technical rescue operations, hazardous materials mitigation, emergency medical incidents and other major emergency incidents as the Incident Commander. While on-call, is responsible for 5000 sworn members, 300 civilian members, 100 firehouses and well over 300 apparatuses. -
