Cumulative grants of approximately $4 million in the 2004 election cycle. • Consultant to the JEHT Foundation, John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and Pew Charitable Trusts on the design of new grant programs and strategies. • Founder and Coordinator of the Voter Engagement Donor Network, a coalition of 130 donors and foundations seeking to strengthen nonpartisan voter registration, education and mobilization and promote rigorous post-election assessments.

• Stern Family Fund Executive Director - Responsible for a $750,000 annual grant program including the design and launch of the Public Interest Pioneer Fund providing $100,000 renewable grants to new corporate and government accountability initiatives. Built relationships with the activist and foundation communities, administered and evaluated approximately 500 grant applications annually and provided strategic assistance to grant recipients.• National Service Legal Corps – Led an effort for the National Legal Aid and Defender Association, Project Advisory Group and National Association for Public Interest Law that successfully leveraged a $2 million annual AmeriCorps grant to create the National Service Legal Corps.• Individual Donors - Advised a set of individual donors on annual charitable and electoral contributions.• Ford Foundation – Supported selected Ford Foundation grantees as they sought to expand and diversify their funding through AmeriCorps grants and other sources.

Established the National Association for Public Interest Law (now Equal Justice Works) to remove impediments to law students and lawyers committed to dedicating their professional lives to the development of a more just society. Built boards and partnerships with leaders from the private bar, legal education, government and public interest community and developed major initiatives on loan repayment assistance, summer training programs, post-graduate fellowships, public service career support and legal education reform. Raised over $5 million from courts, foundations, law schools and law firms and expanded the number of law school chapters from 13 to 125.
