I have been teaching at the middle and high school level since 2005. I became interested in cybersecurity when our district enrolled all employees in an ongoing cyber-threat awareness program called KnowB4. The training sparked an interest in a new career path, so when I heard about a cybersecurity boot camp I leaped at the opportunity. My resume demonstrates a sustained commitment to professional development and post-secondary education. In 2021 I earned my Master's Degree in American history and presently, in pursuit of this new interest, I am working toward completion of a Cybersecurity certificate program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In my current role as an American history teacher, I develop curriculum aligned with state level content and literacy standards. I keep abreast of current scholarship and frequently adjust my lessons and assessments to incorporate the latest developments in my field. Of course, effective teaching requires more than academics. I am skilled at building and maintaining positive relationships with students, parents, and staff. Doing so requires intentional interactions and an ability to manage conflict in a proportional and respectful manner. These interpersonal skills combined with a proven commitment to continuing education--technical and otherwise--prepare me to transition successfully into cybersecurity.
