AIX Systems Engineer

I successfully managed and maintained a diverse range of server infrastructure, including 9 E870's, 2 P795's, and 4 E870C's, all equipped with dual VIO (3.1) serves on each physical frame, supporting 400 AIX 6.1, 7.1, 7.2, and 12 AS400LPAR's. I also provided exceptional technical support for over 1500 Red Hat, CentOS, and Ubuntu servers running VM hardware in a 24/7 production environment. I conducted thorough testing, documentation, and execution of all AIX, VIO, and HMC upgrades.𝙈𝙮 𝙎𝙞𝙜𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙗𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙄𝙣𝙘𝙡𝙪𝙙𝙚: ⦁ Successfully performed AIX migrations from 6.1 to 7.1 and 7.2. and expertly handled Power Frame firmware updates.⦁ Implemented AIX Tech Level upgrades using ansible and regularly applied AIX monthly security patches.⦁ Utilized NIM (Network Installation Manager) for efficient system installations and demonstrated proficiency in MKSYSB backup and system recovery.⦁ Provided extensive support for Tivoli Directory Services and efficiently managed user accounts and permissions for both AIX and Linux systems.⦁ Successfully upgraded 28 VIO servers from version 2.2.6 to 3.1.1. and upgraded 8 HMC systems from V8.7 to V9.1.⦁ Developed and executed a comprehensive plan and scripts to seamlessly migrate 90 AIX production servers from old SVC disk storage to new IBM flash disk array, ensuring zero downtime for the servers.⦁ Created efficient automation scripts for the AS/400 team to streamline CPU/memory movement between power frames during quarterly role swaps in the production environment.⦁ Significantly improved AIX upgrades and monthly security patching by developing ansible scripts, resulting in time savings of 2-3 days for multiple administrators.

In this role, I successfully migrated 5 critical Oracle databases from Linux Servers to new AIX P770, P740 servers (6 Month project), collaborating with consultant to install new hardware, configure VIO servers, and create 5 HACMP - 2 node clusters, 8 – DEV and 3 DR IPAR's. I also provided extensive AIX support for the migration of IBM Mainframe applications to AIX (1 ½ year project), including setting up/configuring 2 HACMP Clusters, DEV, Preprod, and 2 DR servers.
