• Understand the facility design intent and associated process safety layers of protection to ensure operations are within the safe operating design envelopes. Conduct investigations for design envelope excursions to understand root causes and share learnings with the facility. Acting alarm champion at the site. • Verify bypasses, defeats, and valve positions are managed per the design intent and appropriate interim risk reduction measures are in place and understood by operations as required. Provide engineering assessment to abnormal operations and/or operational procedures to identify potential hazards and appropriate preventative measures are in place as needed.• Responsible for facility risk management by bringing identified hazards to standard operating risk levels. This includes identifying facility hazards and assessing preventative and mitigative barriers and provide SMART action plans to provide continuous risk reduction in operations. Chair emergency response drills with operations.• Provide assurance engineering, technical reviews, and process safety assessments in accordance with regulatory or BPXA internal standards. This is implemented through development and/or review of facility design packages, driving in-house projects, and provide support/scope review to outside project groups.• Provide day to day operations and maintenance support such as provide equipment or process troubleshooting, discipline engineering interface/coordination, contractor execution support and activity planning & prioritization. Support regulatory compliance activities related to process safety (e.g. PSM., API 14C, etc.)
