Supported the Canadian manufacturing of S&C fuse products and the engineering departments in Mexico and Brazil. Managed a department of 8 professional, technical, students and clerical staff. Responsibilities included new product development and testing, standards certification, life cycle extensions, performance improvements, cost reductions and customer special product inquiries.• Project manager and lead engineer for the development of a new submersible remote-control switchgear operator. Received a patent for the unique features of the operator. • Introduced a new 69kV (1200A) switch into production.• Introduced a new 14.4 kV (2400A) switch into production.• Introduced a new family of 4.8kV, 14.4kV, 25kV and 38kV grounding switches into production.• Used lean concepts to reduce the drawing times of special switches from 6 weeks to 1 week and ECO processing times from weeks to days.• Updated 5,500 old paper drawings and Microstation files into SolidEdge 3D CAD models resulting in dramatically improved product quality.• Reduced the amount of active part drawings maintained by engineering by 45%.• Developed new drawing standards and department operating procedures. -

Responsible for special customer projects, technical support, field service and training. Worked closely with customers and other OEM suppliers to come up with unique products and systems to fit their needs. Managed a wide variety of equipment installation and customer service projects worth $25K to $1.5M. • Assembly of high-voltage transformer/switch modules used in the wind turbines at the Ripley Wind Farm. Trained and worked closely with the manufacture in Germany. • Design and installation of a safety interlock safety scheme for the electrical distribution system of the University of Toronto (Mississauga Campus). Project also required field testing of existing equipment to CSA standards.• Designed custom brackets for mounting solid state metering sensors and lightening arrestors. The Hydro Quebec bracket design was chosen after a long and difficult selection process. Several thousand units have been sold since for use across Quebec.• Conducted customized product training programs for customers across North America.
