My research focuses on untargeted metabolomics and metabolite structural characterization with an emphasis on tautomers. Tools and techniques used are: Hydrogen-Deuterium exchange (HDX), High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), High Resolution Mass Spectrometry (HRMS), High Resolution tandem mass spectrometry (HRMS/MS), Sample preparation, untargeted metabolomics software (e.g., LipidMatch, MZmine, Compound Discoverer), and statistical programs (e.g., GraphPad Prism, MetaboAnalyst). Outside of research I am passionate about mentorship. I have had the pleasure of mentoring three undergraduate students, three graduate students, and two international visiting scientists. Throughout graduate school I have assisted in teaching numerous undergraduate courses.

I assisted in studying the lipidome of burn patients. Research resulted in the development of a multidimensional (LC-IMS-CID-MS) lipid library and the characterization of why some patients have more favorable outcomes compared to others.

Under the guidance of Dr. Edward Baidoo, I gained my first mass spectrometry-based research experience through the Department of Energy’s SULI program. We developed solid phase extraction techniques to improve recovery and analysis of synthetic biology products and central carbon metabolites.

I assisted in research efforts working towards improving plant physiology through metabolic engineering.

I tutored organic chemistry 1 in a peer to peer setting, organized by the university tutoring center.
