I have spent over fifteen years working on areas of public policy, including; economic development, education, housing, public health, and civic engagement. Working in local government, higher education, and the voluntary sector, I have operated in internally and externally facing roles, bringing together colleagues from diverse backgrounds, building partnerships, and facilitating collaboration to design and deliver strategies, policies, programmes and projects.This has involved working with senior leaders from the public, private and voluntary sectors in fast-paced and demanding environments. I love working across organisational and sectoral boundaries, connecting people with each other and with information, and creating environments that enable effective collaboration and deliver results.This enthusiasm for exploring, sharing, and, acting on new insights, ideas, and best practice informed my efforts to establish a new Senior Leaders’ Group at Sheffield Hallam, and a series of complementary ‘fringe’ events, designed to inject creativity, experimentation, and innovation into strategy delivery. I have continually sought opportunities to learn and develop, from management and leadership programmes to taking on new projects and undertaking postgraduate study (pursuing my interests in politics and urban planning), to training to become a coach and a certified Prince2 Project Manager.
