Drawing on years of experience in research and advocacy positions in some of the top South African non-profit organisations, I am now working independently as a legal, research and advocacy consultant. My research is focused on socio-economic rights, land rights, access to housing, urban governance, the criminal justice system and protest.I offer experience in research project development and conceptualisation, legal research, policy analysis, data analysis, qualitative research, project management, writing of funding reports and proposals, workshop facilitation, and writing and editing a wide range of research publications, submissions, popular and educational materials. I also have experience in a variety of research methodologies, including participatory action research.In this capacity I have worked with a number of organisations including Institute for Poverty, land and Agrarian Studies (PLAAS), the Socio-Economic Rights Institute of South Africa (SERI), the Land andAccountability Research Centre (LARC), the Association for Rural Advancement (AFRA), Women inInformal Employment Globalising and Organising (WIEGO), End Water Poverty (EWP) and the Parliament of South Africa..

NU is a non-profit activist organization and law centre that combines research, community organizing and litigation in campaigns to advance spatial justice in Cape Town, South Africa. I have provided strategic vision on all major communication outputs, including research publications, submissions to international and national governmental bodies, toolkits, educational materials, opinion pieces for popular media, web materials, and social media. I am responsible for developing messaging and creating content to shape the public discourse on spatial justice - including creating and executing social media campaigns, writing opinion pieces and developing infographics. I am responsible for organizational communications, including drafting press releases, liaising with the media and sourcing content for social media. I conceptualize, coordinate and manage various qualitative research projects on a range of issues linked to spatial inequality, and work closely with the social movements advocating for the right to housing.

The Rural Women's Action Research Project (RWAR), the flagship project of the Centre for Law and Society (CLS), is based at the University of Cape Town and conducts research and advocacy in relation to land rights, security of tenure, customary law, extractive industries and traditional leadership. The project has since become its own research centre, the Land and Accountability Research Centre (LARC). At RWAR, I was responsible for conducting legal research for research publications and on-going cases in relation to land rights, customary law and mining. Also involved in project coordination, workshop and advocacy activities and communications.

Contributing editor of an internationally respected blog unpacking urban issues in Johannesburg through a rights-based prism, with a focus on urban identities and contestation. Actively contribute orginial writing to Urban Joburg alongside Thomas Coggin (founding editor) and Professor Marius Pieterse (contributing editor). The blog was recently named one of the best city blogs from around the world by the influential Guardian Cities'.

The Socio-Economic Rights Institute (SERI) is a non-profit organisation that engages in research and advocacy, as well as public interest litigation, to advance socio-economic rights. Responsible for conducting legal research for research publications and on-going cases in the fields of socio-economic rights and related enabling rights. Also involved in dafting funding proposals, funding reports, project coordination and management, and communications.

Conducting legal research in the field of socio-economic rights and administrative justice under the auspices of a research project founded by Professors Sandra Liebenberg and Geo Quinot. Research on pertinent legal issues is conducted for submissions and legal publications. Compiling of documents and submissions to various institutions on contemporary legal matters.
