CeoSeneca Bioenergy 2008 - 2016Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Seneca BioEnergy, LLC an innovative environmental contracting and green energy company which started in 2008. I started the company with three business partners and developed the Business Model for inter-linked projects involving Agricultural Processing – Renewable Energy – Environmental Sustainability. Over the past five years, I successfully grew the company from technology development and startup, through startup commercial production, first by purchasing the Seneca AgBio Green Energy Park facility, successfully permitting this 55-acre renewable energy and environmental management facility, then rehabbing its infrastructure and purchasing commercial equipment for the processing of waste feedstocks to produce high-value products, including biodiesel and extra virgin grape seed oil. We recently negotiated an equity investment buy-out of Seneca BioEnergy by a national renewable energy company, who will expand the multiple businesses within the Park utilizing the environmentally-sustainable business vision that I established. The first expanded business operations are expected to be funded and executed by the venture capital company in late-2014, involving processing agricultural and food wastes for anaerobic digestion and on-site energy production. My day-to-day CEO involvement recently ended, as I seek another challenging management role, passing operational responsibilities to other invested Partners.

Operations DirectorApplied Phytogenetics, Inc. 1999 - 2008Applied PhytoGenetics, Inc. was founded as a small women-owned business in biotechnology applications for environmental site cleanup using plant-based phytoremediation approaches, utilizing patented technologies that the founders developed through incubator technology-design at the University of Georgia’s Biotech Center. I was one of three Founding Partners and provided Applied PhytoGenetics with engineering and agricultural construction experience, bringing the selected phytoremediation technologies from the lab-scale to the field-scale. I deployed phytoremediation systems, using native terrestrial and wetlands plant species targeted for cleanup of soils and ground water, along with genetically engineered plants to carry biochemical characteristics of bacteria for the remediation of mercury sediments contamination. I was responsible for startup of the incubator business efforts, working collaboratively with the two Principal Investigators at the University of Georgia, patenting of intellectual property associated with the APGEN plant species, and field implementation of phytoremediation construction and operations projects. As phytoremediation became more main-streamed as a site cleanup technology, the intellectual properties of APGEN were not cost-effective, so the company was dissolved in 2008. While phytoremediation technologies did not merge into a profitable business model, the skills that I learned in directing technology proof-of-process at the incubator lab-scale, interacting with University-funded research students and faculty, and deployment into actual engineered and constructed remediation systems have proven instrumental in my current academic and business philosophies.

Director Of Technical ServicesOhm Remediation (Now Shaw Environmental) 1994 - 1999At the time of my employment, OHM was the largest environmental remediation and site construction company in the US, and I was hired to lead the Operations Engineering Department of 130 field engineers, design engineers, CAD designers, hydrogeologists, field chemists and technicians, located within eight branch offices in the Northeast and Midwestern states, with responsibility for assuring construction quality control at remediation sites. I reported directly to the Regional Vice President. Included in my technical and management duties were preparation of department budgets, development of quality assurance plans for remediation systems, management of operations technicians and engineers, staff line management and billability, technical performance of process systems, sampling and analyses, tracking project budgets and subcontractor management. I resigned from OHM at the time of their merger with the IT Group / Shaw Environmental in order to fulfill my entrepreneurial spirit and formed the contracting company Applied PhytoGenetics. I gained significant skills at OHM in corporate management, staff line management and budget development. I mentored staff, directed new programs in quality control, and successfully grew the Department.

Engineering Group ManagerErm Group 1990 - 1994I served as one of four Department Managers within the environmental consulting company, ERM Group’s Enviroclean Remediation Division, directing 25 remediation site engineers and Project Managers, and responsible for business development and project direction of technology-based remediation projects. I directed ERM’s equipment fabrication group for soil and ground water remediation systems, and developed innovative dredge materials processes, in-situ soil remediation systems and physical-chemical systems for ground water treatment. Over the course of nearly five years, I successfully developed remediation techniques, ran a small technology research and pilot testing operation, collaborated with two university professors for R&D, and deployed a number of soil and ground water treatment systems that were innovative at the time of our successful project execution.
