I worked as an Intern with Orion Health’s Platform team. During the first half of my internship I constructed several extensions (written in Java) for the Eclipse IDE to make creating projects for the Orion Health Platform easier and safer. As we completed our project early, the second half of the internship was spent creating additional features for the web management consoles of the Orion Health System. This involved developing applications for the OSGI framework (specifically equinox) and the use of Java EE and RAP (Rich Ajax Platform).

I worked with Dr Christof Lutteroth and Dr Beryl Plimmer in a project on Document Resizing for the Visually Impaired. The goal was to produce a set of tools to assist staff working in high schools to resize documents to make them accessible for the visually impaired. To achieve this goal we interviewed visual resource staff at high schools and established a key set of features which would assist staff in resizing documents. This required programming a set of tools in C# and integrating them into the Microsoft Office Word environment using Visual Studio Tools for Office.
