CAREER HISTORY2007-PresentKimberly-Clark Barrow MillPaper Machine 1, Deinking Plant and Effluent Plant, Mechanical Engineer.In my current role I have gained experience in a diverse range of industry technology and have enhanced my knowledge and expertise in the equipment and processes involved in these areas.On a day to day basis my main responsibilities include; Planning and managing maintenance activities, ensuring compliance to statutory regulations, identifying and implementing asset improvements, application of lean principles, driving continuous improvement, ensuring all work satisfies appropriate corporate and international standards, development of shift and day team capability, managing maintenance budgets, creating monthly reports, identifying opportunities for capital investment and compiling justification reports.As well as these day to day responsibilities I have also taken responsibility for managing numerous small (£10K) to medium sized (£600K) projects from concept through to handover and closeout. Acting as the project leader as well as the lead mechanical engineer, I am responsible for overseeing all stages of the project lifecycle as well as being heavily involved in the design, installation and commissioning phases.

I led various equipment improvement initiatives and developed maintenance schedules and critical spares lists.During this time I also had the opportunity to attend a TPM conference in Paris Texas where I gained experience in TPM tools and practices, and how it was being successfully implemented in KC mills across America.

September 2005 – September 2007Kimberly-Clark Barrow MillMechanical Engineer, Multifolder This was my first role at Kimberly Clark and as mechanical engineer I was responsible for rolling out new corporate maintenance practices into the area. I was also involved in the roll out of RFS (repetitive flexible supply) where we had to change our maintenance practices to enable us to fully utilise the spare time that became available due to the new lean scheduling approach.Another big part of my job in this area was to drive the continuous improvement process by identifying and implementing improvements to equipment and processes and encouraging others to do the same. Improvements ranged from small component assemblies which were redesigned and manufactured to improve equipment reliability, to small capital projects utilising new technology.

In this varied role I learnt to programme Fanuc and Yamaha Robots, I became proficient in PLC programming and fault finding, led the introduction and development of a CNC diamond turning process, designed and installed a waste chemical handling and disposal process, and worked closely with external suppliers to try to improve product quality. I also gained experience in Lean Manufacturing Principles such as 5’s, Kaizen& Kanban. During my time at Ricoh UK Products I completed my BEng Hons in Mechanical Engineering.
