I worked closely with the NHS and BAM to ensure the smooth departure of NHS Nightingale and Harrogate Convention Centre's reinstatement to welcome back our clients in late June 2021. I've assisted in progressing business critical projects including 'Redevelopment Phase 1' design, resolving legacy maintenance issues and maximising team engagement and enthusiasm while ensuring operational deliverability whilst maintaining commercial lettings. I supported the new Head of Destination Management Organisation through restructure advice and developing financial and management options to ensure the new service was effective for summer 2021 while ensuring the smooth operation of the Culture & Tourism service through its transformation into the Destination Management Organisation.

As Head of Culture, Tourism & Sport I've lead and developed our services through their most challenging periods of change in a generation. Developing the new Ripon Pool and Leisure Centre and Harrogate's famous Turkish Baths while assisting the delivery of the UCI 2019 Road World Cycling Championships has been both exciting and challenging for all involved. In parallel we developed our first Sport and Leisure Strategy aiming to ensure 'a healthier, more active population living longer, more independent and happier lives' and having reviewed our delivery model we're transitioning Leisure Services into a Local Authority Controlled Company and investing a further £26.5 million in our venues.In 2019 we hosted the UCI Road World Cycling Championships. It was an incredible event with hundreds of thousands of visitors having an outstanding if sometime soggy time! We gained additional funding to develop our inward investment linked to the heightened interest in Harrogate and we've showcased our district at MIPIM in London and Cannes and an event in Barcelona.

We've merged the National Civil War Centre, the Palace Theatre and Newark's Tourist Information Centre to create a combined Visitor Gateway, Box Office, shop and reception and all day cafe/bar. Working with RG Carter and Form of Intelligence this £1.5 million project opened for Easter 2016 with fully combined operational teams and an astonishing new look and feel for tourism in Newark.Developments continue at the National Civil War Centre with our 1st stage improvements complete. Civil War timelines, an eight minute presentation of Newark's three sieges, introductions to our cinema films, SiegeSearch - a searchable 300 entry resource on all Civil War sieges, protection and interpretation of 400 year old graffiti, a resource centre supported by the Wolfson Foundation and our own Roundheads and Cavaliers 'Pikes and Ladders'.

As Business Manager I'm responsible for shaping the future of the National Civil War Centre - Newark Museum.We have delivered an exciting new attraction within the Grade II* listed Old Magnus Buildings in the town’s Appletongate with the centrepiece theme being the deadly struggles for power in 17th century Britain.The sieges, skulduggery and violence – in virtual reality at least – along with political intrigue and religious rivalry of the British Civil Wars is be showcased in a modern 21st century setting.

As Head of York Minster's Visitors' Department I was responsible for ensuring a great welcome at Yorkshire's iconic place of worship and delivering increases in income of 20% against 2012's £2 million + of operating contribution and increasing guidebook sales by 80%. With a team of 30 Minster Hosts and 50 volunteers we welcomed and managed up to 2,000 visitors daily on the Minster floor and high above York on the Central Tower and below in the Undercroft and Treasury, the £1.2 million 'Heroic, Historic and Human journey’ through the Minster's story.

General Manager of York's newest attraction, celebrating York's place as the capital of chocolate in the UK.During build phase responsible for ensuring accurate content, future operational practicality, and cost management, in addition to scoping and recruitment of all attraction management and staff.Manage the attraction team of 35 through two direct reports – Marketing Manager and Operations Manager, including; Retail Manager, Food and Beverage Manager, Guest Experience Manager, Corporate and Hospitality Assistant and a further team of 30 team members and four apprentices.

Responsible to the Territory Director for the financial management of 40 operational properties, income budget of £5.5 million, revenue expenditure of £5.4 million, maintenance expenditure of £2.2 million. Member of the senior team which transformed the Territory’s finances from £1 million operational deficit to £40,000 profit over four years by conceiving, testing, and refining processes to enable managers to deliver budgets, projects and visitor satisfaction.National responsibility for financial audit performance across English Heritage’s 110 operational properties, member of English Heritage’s Security Board where key achievements included creating a national cash system enabling active management of cash at 110 properties and a £40,000 annual reduction in cash collection costs.Project lead for transfer of Conisbrough Castle to direct management from a council supported trust, consultation and lead on redevelopment project, gaining HLF Stage 1 pass and Baguley Hall Disposal marketing a State owned scheduled monument and working with the Department for Culture Media and Sport towards transfer to a third party. Project lead in developing a strategy for Carlisle Castle in partnership with Cumbria's Military Museum, unlocking the potential of the most besieged castle in the Kingdom through supporting and enabling the Museum's move to Alma Block.Line managed Events Manager (North) and assistant overseeing 430 event days each summer. Ensured programme was planned and delivered to budget, and that financial contributions were maximised and that all relevant Health and Safety and Licensing requirements were met.

Responsible to the Territory Director for the management of five operational managers, 40 Full-time Equivalent posts, 170 volunteers, income of £1.1 million, expenditure of £1.1 million, delivery of capital projects in 2006-07 of £1.2 million.Responsible for all aspects of visitor income, care and safety at 13 staffed properties in the Territory. Responsible for identifying capital projects such as;five refurbished historic rooms and children's play area - Brodsworth Hallexhibition, ossuary and development as a charging property - St Peters Churchexhibition, visitor facilities and development as a charging property - Thornton Abbey Gatehouselandscape restoration, bracken eradication and development as a woodland park - Beeston Castleopening as a charging visitor attraction with exhibition and guided tour - York Cold War Bunkerin addition to business planning for a new visitor centre at Brodsworth Hall, reducing operational deficits, developing site and management teams, producing business plans and developing 'site visions'.Additional responsibilities included – lead Head of Visitor Operations (HVO) for Estates Liaison in North Territory, ensuring colleagues were involved and understanding of conservation needs, devising systems with Estates colleagues to capture and prioritise maintenance requests.Lead HVO for both security and property licensing in North Territory, auditing territory standards against national standards and devising recommendations to meet standards.

Responsible for operational management of Brodsworth Hall and Gardens, financial performance of income and expenditure budgets including member recruitment, retail and guidebook key performance indicators.
