With The American Forest Foundation I was able to cover a wide range of policy issues; including wildfire funding, tax tools for woodland owners, implementation of Farm Bill programs, and other public policy issues with the intent of ensuring the sustainability of America's family forests. I had the opportunity to engage in both grasstops and grassroots.

Both provided a great opportunity to see the industry side as well as the conservation side of forestry, working with the sustainability sought by all. Balancing time between the two, doing 20 hours at each a week helped me manage my time wisely.

At MUCC's Outdoor Youth Camp I had the opportunity to mentor and teach youth (age 9-15) the importance of our state's outdoor heritage and the significance of activities like hunting, fishing, and trapping in conservation of Michigan's natural resources. Many of the campers are from urban areas and have had little opportunity to discover what Michigan's.
