About Michael Couch

With an extensive background in design engineering, system integration, and technical management, I am currently VP of Engineering at INPRO Technologies, Inc. in Frederick, MD, where we design, build, and support unique integration solutions with a focus on technologies like UV, static-control, radiometry, and surface treatment. In my role, I am primarily responsible for the performance and growth of our company's Engineering Services. The best part of my current position is interacting with and motivating those around me to work toward accomplishing a common goal at a level higher than could be otherwise achieved alone. I strive to ensure people are fulfilled in what they do by giving them the foundation and the means to be successful. I subscribe and hold leaders in my organization to a leadership-style in which there exists an innate and honest desire to serve rather than to be served,

I was tasked with designing a pneumatic particulate collection system. My work has me heavily involved in gaseous-solid flow visualization and analysis, pressure vessel design, and pneumatic systems design and component selection.I had been on this project since it's earliest stages and been in charge of everything from experiment design and data collection to final product design and construction. On any given day I could be found crunching numbers in my log book, running tests on my experimental sampling rig, designing with CAD on my computer, or running my custom designed parts on the in-house 3-axis mill. This work was a continuation of my undergraduate senior design project, in which I modeled and prototyped a mobility platform for the unmanned vehicle carrying the sampling system.
